Browning Gold Hunter (20ga.)

So we went off to the Evil Loophole Gun Show yesterday, with no special purpose in mind other than a small shopping expedition—I needed some new grips for the Blackhawk, maybe a few more magazines, cheap ammo, the usual stuff. And this time, that’s pretty much all I got.
Not so for The Mrs., however. On the way out, she happened to spot this beauty, in 20ga. with its trademark 26” barrel:
The Browning Gold Hunter is a semi-auto sporter, and can handle any 20ga. shotgun cartridge size, from 2¾” to the manly 3” magnum. The Mrs., of course, will be using the smaller cartridges until she’s comfortable with it.
I’ve never shot this particular Browning model before (yeah, like that’s gonna last), but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be fun—if I can tear it away from The Mrs., that is.
When asked what she was going to use it for, she replied, “To shoot burglars and skeet.”
Note to prospective burglars: You may want to consider another house, because what was always going to be a marginal situation (for you, that is), will now be problematic in the extreme.
On the way home, we stopped by Bass Pro, and “loaded up” with about 400 rounds of ammo, all different types of 20ga.
This particular model Browning Gold Hunter is the “plain” one, with no fancy scrollwork, and will set you back around $700 (a little less if secondhand). The 12ga. model (which is cosmetically identical) will be marginally more expensive.
Range Report to follow.
