Beretta Model 101 Target (.22 LR)

I’ve spoken before of the Beretta Mod 71 ("Jaguar"), as one of the finest .22 pistols ever made, by anyone.

Here’s the “Target” version of the Model 71 (sometimes called the Model 101), with the longer 6” barrel, adjustable rear sight and the standard 10-round magazine:

I just love the sleek lines of this gun—especially that curved trigger-guard (designed in the days when target-shooting was performed one-handed, standing sideways-on to the target).

Incidentally, this is not to be confused with the modern Model 101, which is the civilian version of the M12 subbie.

Good grief—I might have to go to all the way over to the Beretta factory in Brescia (northern Italy) to sort all this stuff out. (Yeah, bummer, I know, but someone has to do it.)

Anyway, this is the most reliable .22 pistol I’ve ever fired (not one stoppage, ever), and one of the most accurate. Prices usually run around $300, which is high for an older .22 pistol, but it’s definitely worth the money—long after you’ve forgotten what you paid for it, you’ll still be enjoying this wonderful gun.
