Beretta 86 (.380ACP)

Here’s the Beretta 86 in .380ACP, which typically sells for around $300-$350 secondhand.
Now this is a decent (if marginal) carry piece, unless it’s loaded up with the excellent Federal Hydra-Shok hollowpoints. Yes, it’s somewhat expensive, and a little big for a carry piece, but you do get a “stopper” bullet coming out of the tube, and it’s as reliable as hell.
Then I thought about it for a while. The famous saying goes, ”Any gun is better than no gun.”
And also, a gun which can be fired accurately (which the Beretta certainly can be) is better than a gun which makes a big bang but causes its user to flinch.
As time goes on, I find myself becoming more and more tolerant of things that only a few years ago I would have considered heresy. And they call me a conservative.
But for myself, I’m still going to carry either the .38 Special +P, .44 Special, or the .45ACP.
