A Brief Note About The Essays

In the Essays section can be found longer, and generally more-complex thoughts on various issues which have called out to me for comment over the years.
Several have caused something of a stir on the Internet—for some reason, discussion of the failure of welfare payments to the entire continent of Africa means that I am a racist, and an angry tirade against the feminization of men has generated more angry mail (and far more “attaboy” mail) than anything else I’ve ever written.
More important, however, are the essays which compare current political or social events to similar (or even identical) events in history, and which draw lessons for us from that sometimes bitter experience.
And some are just trenchant comments aimed at silliness in general.
