Not At Home

So it appears that Obama Rama Ding Dong is having a little trouble outside the Liberal Archipelago:
Here in the Mountain State, where faith, firearms and patriotism are bedrock, Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama is failing to connect, trailing in the run-up to today’s primary election by 40 points in some polls.
Now multiply that situation across almost all 50 states, in varying degrees, and you’ll see why the Democrat Party bosses are probably tearing their hair out (in private) at their prospects in November.
And that’s before the much-vaunted (and mostly fictional) “Republican Attack Machine” gets going.
”You’re not going to win the general election with only Blacks and intellectuals voting for you.” I didn’t say that—a Democrat did.
There’s no “hope” in “God, grits and guns.” Just millions of votes, and you alienate this group at your peril.

From Larry Correia, talking about bullet-stopping statistics and such:
“I don’t know about you guys, but anybody worth shooting is worth shooting five to seven times. I’m not going to shoot the guy once, and then wait around to see what percentile he falls into. My gun is going to sound like a friggin’ jackhammer until he decides to leave me the hell alone.”
Not much to argue with there, although my parsimonious nature (when it comes to ammo usage) might dictate “double-tap—pause—double-tap” instead of the “jackhammer” doctrine.
However, if the goblin looks like “Death Train” (as described by Correia), my M1911 will sound more like a M1919, you betcha.

After reading through this little atrocity, Friend & Reader Scott S. writes to me:
I’m trying really hard to be patient with McCain. He’s doing his absolute best to piss me off.
I swear, if he goes much farther than this, he’s going to lose me. As it stands, I’m going to vote for him, and then go home to tar and feather myself.
My dear friend: Welcome to McCain Country.
We should probably consider ourselves lucky, because McCain is giving us a taste of what’s going to happen when he gets to the White House. This, in other words, is what is in store for us conservatives: daily disappointments, frequent betrayals, and constant regret for having voted for him.
This is what we get for letting the perfect be the enemy of the good; for wasting primary votes on nutcases like Ron Paul, RINOs like Mitt Romney, or no-hopers like Fred Thompson.
McCain is going to screw us, every single chance he gets, as long as what he does makes him popular with the Press, or with “centrist” Democrats like Joe Lieberman, or with “moderate” Republicans like Olympia Snowe, or with “popular” figures like Ted Kennedy and Arianna Huffington, or with international bodies like the United Nations.
And occasionally, he’s going to screw us just because he hates conservatives, and because he can, and because he knows that as bad as he is, Obama would be orders of magnitude worse.
Leave space for me in the tar barrel. It’s going to look like a Japanese bath house by the time the election’s over.

This is an interesting report, sent by Reader Eric K:
A Knoxville man shot and killed a Pittsburgh police dog Tuesday before the canine’s handler returned fire, killing the man in what city police Chief Nate Harper called “an unfortunate” but justifiable action.
The shooting outraged and angered the family of the 19-year-old man, Justin Jackson. He was pronounced dead by a passing paramedic almost immediately after the shooting that occurred at 6:53 p.m. in front of the UPMC facility on Arlington Avenue on the border of Knoxville and Mt. Oliver.
Harper said the dog’s handler ordered the canine—a 6-year-old German shepherd named Aulf—to attack after Jackson pulled a gun from under his shirt. Both the officer, an eight-year-veteran Harper did not identify, and Jackson fired several shots, the chief said.
“They shot my son in the head. The officer told me, ‘Our dog got shot so we shot him.’ They killed my son over a dog,” said Donald James Jackson of the West End.
No, they killed your son because he was shooting after being told to stop, you moron. The dog is irrelevant.
I don’t know what the law is in Pennsylvania, but several jurisdictions have laws which state quite explicitly that shooting at a police dog is no different from shooting at a police officer—in other words, if you kill a police dog, that would be considered justifiable if the police shoot you dead in return. (Which is how I hope the court sees it, if it ever gets to that.)
Not that it matters: shooting in and around the company of cops is a good way to get your worthless hide perforated anyway.
I’m not one of these people who loves animals more than humans; but in terms of their worth to society, I’d take a police dog over a foul scumbag like the late goblin, any day of the week.

Now that the English Premier League football season has drawn to a close, I face a long few months, as I do every year, without much sport to watch on TV. Of course, there’s no cricket I can watch either, as ESPN would rather show high school basketball games than cater to the hundreds of thousands of Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, Indians, Pakistanis, West Indians and Seffricans who have settled here and would be keen to watch, oh, say, the Cricket World Cup or the various international Test matches.
Adding to my sour mood is that Chelsea came second in the Premiership to the horrible Manchester United, and failed to reach the F.A. Cup final by losing to a pick-up side from Lower Gasping-In-The-Wold or something. At least the Lads will have a second chance to beat the Man U scum, as both teams are in the Champions League* final match on May 21, being played in… Moscow.
Yeah, that’ll be on ESPN, right after the Australian underwater wrist wrestling playoffs.
And the U.S. Open golf tournament is on June 5, while The Open only starts on July 17. A few bleak weeks lie ahead… no EPL, no cricket, not much golf.
Bah. I think I’ll go and kick a hippie.

Given that the Democrats are obsessed with “group” politics, it stands to reason that they’d wail that if you don’t want to vote for Hillary Rodham Antichrist, it’s because she’s a woman, or if you’re not going to vote for Obama Rama Ding Dong, it’s because you’re a racist.
Given that liberals are morons, it would be an easy trap to fall into, especially if you’re a self-styled “intellectual”.
The common denominator, and the principle reason why neither of those candidates will get many votes, is because they’re big-government liberals (aka. socialists).
Think I wouldn’t vote for a Black man? Nominate Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele or Thomas Sowell—or, if we’re going to extend the concept to “non-White”, try me on Bobby Jindal.
Think I wouldn’t vote for a woman? Let’s hear it for Gov. Sarah Palin, Laura Ingraham, or Phyllis Schlafly.
Any clues about the above? They’re conservative.
Race and gender has nothing to do with how I’d vote. Political philosophy, as befitting a political decision, is the sine qua non.
